Homage To The Square
Josef Albers (1888-1976) revolutionized the way we look at and combine color. He was a professor at The Bauhaus Design School in Dessau, Germany and the much lesser known but influential Black Mountain College in North Carolina. In 1950 he began his signature series , Homage to the Square, a 20 year long study in color that includes over 1.000 paintings . Our artwork is inspired by his clean and simple aesthetic. It was sourced in a European archive and dates from around 1940.
