Le Hot Club De France

Le Hot Club was founded in 1931 by five students in Paris - one of whom was Charles Delaunay the son of our favorite trail blazing modernist Sonia Delaunay. Charles was a prominent Jazz scholar and formed the club with his associates to promote their love of jazz based around American swing and blues. The club moved venues as needed and featured a house quintet that included Django Reinhardt who was managed by Charles. Le Hot Club was responsible for popularizing "traditional" jazz throughout Europe.
